my new blog…

finally….my new and improved blog and website are up and running!  it’s been a work in progress and i am so glad to have things completed.   i owe a huge thanks to my super talented photographer/designer/videographer friend stacy ideus for having the vision for my new look.  she is a killer designer and knew immediately the overall look that would suit my style and personality.  she nailed it and i couldn’t be happier.   thanks “boots” for your time, energy, and mad design skills.

i’m so glad that I can finally post my recent sessions.  to start things off, meet zoe.  an adorable little firecracker that i thoroughly enjoyed spending time with and photographing.  there was not a dull moment the entire time we were together.  she is full of personality and kept me on my toes.  i’d take 10 of her any day!

Kathy - Awesome work! Luv the new look!

a workshop for parents!

is there something hiding in your closet…. something high-tech and intimidating? do you feel guilty for not shooting with your expensive SLR (that means one with removable lenses) because you simply don’t know how to run it? do you wish you could be more creative and actually use your camera to it’s full advantage??  if you answered YES to one or more of these questions… read on, my friends!

i’m teaming up with the amazingly talented Stacy Ideus for a workshop! a workshop for parents (or anyone for that matter!) who wishes to really sit down and learn how to operate their own SLR camera. so you can be confident in capturing your own beautiful life with the fast shutter and high quality images your camera is capable of. if you’re interested, please read on below for all the details and email me at mona@monakphotography.com.   deadline is April 15th (or sooner if the workshop becomes full!)    join us! give your SLR some love. : )

Linda - Gosh, what a great idea to share your talents and your “camera” knowledge with others. Wish I qualified….would be such fun spending the day and learning with you both. Your photos are just so awesome.

Better Late Than Never | Omaha Couples Photographer

As I sat editing images with a space heater close by and mounds of sparkling snow just outside my window I found myself browsing through images I shot last fall.  One of my favorite sessions that I failed to share (bad, bad me!) was a shoot I did with my close friends Ryan and Stacy and their sweet pups Tyson and Toby.   Needless to say, I love photographing them.  Ryan and Stacy are gorgeous, madly in love with each other, plus they are completely natural and comfortable in front of the camera.  Makes my job easy peasey!   I adore these images and love that Tyson and Toby were included.  It was such a pretty, sunny, fall day.  Can’t you just feel the warmth radiating from their pictures?  I know I can!   You may recognize Stacy as the amazing photographer behind the lens of Stacy Ideus Photography.  If you have never seen her images you are surely missing out.  She is an amazing talent!  Be sure to check her out and follow her blog.  It’s beautiful, fun and informative. In case you can’t tell I think my friends are pretty darn special!

Rogers Family | Omaha Family Portrait Photographer

I hope you are enjoying the mild weather we have been fortunate to have this winter.  It has been so unusually  nice, I haven’t even worn a coat until recently.  Gotta love that.  Usually it’s so cold this time of year you don’t want to leave the house.  The warm temps have been nice, but I have to admit that I have wanted snow all winter and finally we were hit with a snowstorm last weekend. Everything is covered in WHITE and it’s lovely.  I just can’t image winter without snow.

Before spring arrives and things get crazy I have a few more sessions to share from last fall.  One of my favorite sessions was with the Rogers family.  Sara is a fellow photographer and friend so I was flattered when she asked me to photograph her sweet family.  It was an honor and so much fun for me.  You can check out Sara’s work here .

The “F” family | Omaha Family Portrait Photographer

I had so many incredible sessions to round out 2011.  One of my favorite sessions was with the “F” family.   Stacie and Ryan suggested we shoot in their home which I was excited about.  I always enjoy the possibility of using a client home as the backdrop for a session.  You can’t pass up the “homey” feel and the personal touches which make each session so special, plus most clients are at ease at home.  I have to share the names of the little ones in the family because I’m a sucker for cool unique names…Porter and Roma.  I love their names and they are so fitting.  One of the reasons Stacie and Ryan wanted to shoot in their home is because they are set to move to Joplin, MO for a couple of years while Ryan helps to rebuild a hospital there.  I can’t think of a better reason to move than to help another community in need.  Wishing you lots of luck in your future adventure!
